The Giulia Ti (Tourismo Internazionale)
Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 11:35AM The first Giulia was shown to the public in the royal park of Monza at June 27, 1962.
The Giulia Ti (Tourismo Internazionale), the first of the famous 105 series, has an original body styling which
was a result of testing a lot of hours in a wind tunnel. The graceful body, the integrated spoiler in the roof and the 'kamm tail' made the Giulia very aerodynamic. The drag coefficient is 0.34 and is the same as the Porsche 996 GT2!
The engine for the 1962 Giulia Ti was developed from the 101 series Giulietta 1300 power plant and had a displacement of 1,570 cc. It was all aluminium with cast iron liners, double overhead cams and a single two-barrel downdraft carburettor. Together with great handling with five forward gears (in 1962!!) the Giulia started a great succes for Alfa Romeo.
In 1965 the 1.3 engine, developping 82 bhp, was also available for the Giulia Ti.
In 1962 the Giulia Ti had a list price of 1,570,000 Lire (€811)
